Socials Events
Olivia Tottle. (Social Co-ordinator)A Social Events Group was formed in the Autumn of 2004 to put together a programme of events for the coming year. These social events are open to all, and have three main aims, namely to get to know each other better, have fun together, and have opportunities to invite friends, neighbours, relatives or newcomers. We also plan to join in with other events in the village where possible. This group has considerable overlap locally with the Outreach Group.
The members of the group were chosen to represent a cross section of the congregation as far as possible. We have only met once so far and will only plan to meet two or three times a year. We have a co-ordinator who can call on various members of the group or congregation to run or help with the various events. A flier was produced to advertise our plans, and ask for people’s ideas.
Our first main event was the Pancake Party, enjoyed by about 100 people of all ages. This involved a meal, quiz, pancake races and a Dutch auction. The total profit from the Pancake Party was £240, and this was given to the Bishop’s Appeal.
New ideas or suggestions are welcome, and if you would like to help in any way or organise an event, I would be delighted to hear from you.
