PACT Holiday Club:
Lynn HellewellThis year 300 children were able to attend the PACT Holiday Club, supported by 100 volunteers from the various churches - St Mary’s & Lynn’s connections, providing no less than 50!
p>The overall theme was the Olympics and throughout the week a daily sketch was performed all about training and how, to God, everyone is special, not just the medal winners. Running alongside this, was the story of Gideon - Zero to Hero. This year due to necessity, the Infants and Juniors sections had to be put together in the sports hall for joint ‘up front’ times at the beginning and end of the morning. The young band was great and led some fantastic action worship songs. There was a lot of noise and cheering, especially to the whacky song ‘Jumping in the House of God’ and the crazy ‘Challenge the Leader’ competition each day. But there were quieter times too, when the next bit of the Gideon story was told and acted out, and prayers, written by the children, were shared.
In between, the Juniors and Infants split and went to their respective age-specific zones for sport, craft and different activities i.e. mime artist and African drummer, and there was a chance to explore further the theme from the daily Gideon story i.e. Trust.
We were again blessed with fantastic weather and both the children and the leaders had a brilliant, if exhausting, time! What an excellent witness it is when we all come together to serve the children of our town and their parents in this way. Well done and thank you to all who helped. See you August 1st - 5th 2005!
