The Parish of Sheet

The new parish of Sheet was created in December 1989 and the first Vicar instituted in 1990. Prior to this St. Mary's, Sheet was ministered to by a Priest‑in‑Charge under the direction of the Vicar of St. Peter's Church in Petersfield. St. Peter's in its turn was until 1886 a chapelry to nearby Buriton when it too became a parish in its own right.

The breadth and pattern of services has been designed to meet the requirements of a wide range of worship, and is one of the strengths of St, Mary's. It offers the opportunity for traditionalists, and those who enjoy the insights of modern liturgy and music, to feel part of the church family. There is a core of people who enjoy the variety and attend any or all of the types of service. Increasingly the different groups have mixed through social events, home groups and courses. The PCC wishes to continue to encourage this interaction whilst respecting individual preferences.

As well as offering personal prayer in this Church, visitors are most welcome at all services. Sunday services are usually at 8.00am, 10.00am and 6.30pm.
