The Pastoral Committee has met on three occasions since the ACM. During the year Bob Slade stood down from this committee and we were joined by Jean Dowdeswell. There continues to be ongoing discussion about the ways in which we, as a committee can reach out effectively to meet the pastoral needs of our congregation.

As a committee, we maintain regular parish contact with the under-mentioned groups. Each member is responsible for liasing frequently with their designated group in order that we may share their successes and their concerns at our meetings. We are then able to pass this information on to the wider forum of the PCC or, if appropriate to the LPAs. The committee also continues to oversee the summer Invitation Evensong.

The groups that we have contact with are:
Babysitting, Baptism, Creche, SMUTS, RockSolid, Youth Group, Organist, Choir, Young Families Music Group, Visitors, LPA’s, SMOFS, Home Groups, Transport, Marriage Clerk, Holiday Club and St Mary’s PACT Welcomers.

Pastoral care will also be extended to new groups that have emerged during the year including SMART (St Mary’s Activities for Rising Teenagers) and the Music Worship Group.

We continue to look at ways in which the Pastoral Committee can reach out effectively to offer support. If you have any pastoral concerns, or if you feel there is an area of life at St. Mary’s that we have missed, please do contact me, or one of the committee.
