Prayer Circle:
Anne Hazelton
If you would like to request prayer for a person or situation, contact Hilary Bonney or Anne Hazelton. All requests are confidential and you do need permission from the person or persons for whom you are asking us to pray.
We pray, then telephone the next member of the circle who prays and sends the message on until it had been right round the circle. We continued to pray until it seemed right to stop.
The eighteen men and women of the Prayer Circle responded to 130 prayer requests in 2004. The requests varied enormously. We are privileged to be part of this quiet unseen ministry and to see real answers to prayer.
Julian Prayer Group:
Jill WattsI am privileged to be a member of the Tuesday morning group. Meeting once a month for about 45 minutes. We take it in turns to lead the group with a short reading or meditation which leads into a period of silent prayer and then another short reading or prayer to close.
There is no consultation over the material used but it is amazing how often the theme chosen fits exactly with the thoughts or circumstances of group members. God-incidence? It is a very special time and a blessing.
"In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength" - Isaiah 30:15
Prayer Cells:
Joan Wearn & Jackie KneePrayer is a very important cornerstone of our life at St. Mary’s. A number of small groups or cells meet to pray together on a regular basis. The cells, also known as triplets, have 2 or more members and meet in people’s homes at different times throughout the week or month. It is wonderful to know that these groups are committing themselves and their prayers to God.
The prayer cells allow a time when people can have personal concerns prayed for as well as those for our community, our church and the world. They can provide a secure environment for members and for this reason many cells run with the same people over a period of time. For this reason some existing cells not may not be open to newcomers.
However, if you are not in a cell and would like to be in one or would like to explore the idea of prayer cells please contact Joan Wearn or Jackie Knee and we can hopefully help you to get started. Many cells form by 3 or 4 people coming together to discuss the idea, or someone may say they are looking for a cell to join. There may be people you know in church who would like to pray with you or in a small group so do talk to people about it.
There are many ways to pray and a prayer cell is a wonderful way to explore this aspect of your faith.
