Scripture Readers:
Anne Humphries
Thank you to our faithful group of 40+ scripture readers for all their commitment during the year.
People have come and gone but there are still plenty of willing readers available for the 10am communion services which can mean people only read a few times a year. However readers for matins and the 8am services generally read every other month.
In order to streamline the compilation of rotas the task of allocating readers will from April be done in the Parish Office, so please could you in future contact Dave if you have a problem with reading.
If anyone would like to become a reader you would be most welcome, please speak to the Vicar or one of the Churchwardens if you are interested.
Intercessors:
Joan BarberWe are very blessed at St Mary's to have a faithful team of people who are prepared to lead our intercessions week by week. It is perhaps not generally recognised that prayers well prepared for worship may take anything up to an hour to bring to fruition. These will include bringing to God, prayers for the Church worldwide and for those we support in mission both home and abroad. We pray for the community of which we are a part and give thanks for the lives of those who have died - and we remember the bereaved. We are grateful too for the prayers offered by adults and youngsters at family services.
It is significant that from time to time appreciative comments are received when, during the prayers, the intercessor has left a space for us to reflect and listen.
We give thanks too for so many in our Parish who regularly offer prayer for one another's needs as well as their own. Since prayer sustains and under girds all that we do, we can feel wonderfully supported and encouraged by this activity.
